Defender Chris Dillon signs for Eastleigh

Eastleigh take on Skrill Premier side Salisbury City tomorrow at The Silverlake Stadium in their penultimate pre-season friendly as they continue to prepare for the coming Skrill South campaign.

The Spitfires played Woking at home on Tuesday where they lost 2-4 despite taking the lead six minutes before the break.

A long ball sent by goalkeeper Ross Flitney found Jamie Collins who nodded it towards the path of Yemi Odubade and the former Gateshead Striker made no mistake with the finish.

That lead only lasted two minutes however when Woking captain Mark Ricketts had the simplest of finishes following a pass from Kevin Betsy.

With seconds to play in the first half, the visitors took the lead when Collins brought down Lee Sawyer in the box and Gavin Williams converted the penalty to give The Cards a 1-2 lead going in to the break.

It took just eight minutes into the second for the game to see another goal and it was yet another penalty when this time Eastleigh’s Will Evans  got brought down in the area.

Jai Reason converted a powerful penalty down the bottom left which gave keeper Sam Beasant no chance.

A further two goals from Guiseppe Sole and Oliver Taylor saw the visitors claim the victory over Eastleigh however it was still positive performance from Richard Hill’s men.

Tomorrow’s opponents sees Salisbury City returning to The Silverlake Stadium having got promoted from the Conference South last season.

The Whites recently appointed Mikey Harris as manager following the departure of Darrell Clarke and Harris became the youngest full-time manager in English football.

In other news defender Chris Dillon has signed for Eastleigh and has arrived from arrived from Doveton Soccer Club, a State Division Two side in Australia.

The former Christchurch player has already featured in a number of pre-season friendlies as a trialist and will be an important signing for The Spitfires.
