An Eastleigh woman has been injured after a male tried to rob her of her handbag on the Aviary estate.

The 52 year-old woman was walking on Wren Road on Sunday night (October 6) at about 9 pm when she was approached from behind by an unknown male who then tried to snatch her shoulder bag.

The woman bravely fought back but fell over in the struggle. Although she managed to kick her assailant and keep hold of her bag she has been left with a black eye.

Detective Constable Tsuzaki of Eastleigh CID said:

“This incident occurred on a Sunday evening where most people at home would likely to be awake. The area where this has occurred is also a relatively quiet area of Eastleigh so it’s likely that any commotion would have resulted in raising people’s attention to any incident outside.”

“I would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious males in that area at around the time of the incident.”

“If you have any information regarding this incident please can you contact Eastleigh CID on 101 or if you want to give this information anonymously please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
