Eastleigh Ramblers were pleasantly surprised when Mike Thornton, Eastleigh’s Liberal Democrat M.P, joined them on a 6 mile walk from Sherfield English led by Christine Bond.

Thornton had been invited as part of an initiative by the Ramblers Association designed to encourage local M.P.s to join a walk in order that they can spread the word to their constituents of the benefits of walking and the important work that the association does in keeping footpaths open.

After the walk Mike Thornton said:

“It was a real pleasure to spend the day with the Eastleigh Ramblers. Both my wife, Peta, and I enjoy walking in our beautiful Hampshire countryside. It is a really healthy activity. This group offer the chance for people to get out and explore Hampshire while enjoying good company.”

Fancy joining up with the ramblers for a nice walk in our local countryside?

So Eastleigh ramblers have to go to Sherfield English to ramble? not enough countryside in Eastleigh. Did he drive there?

I’d have thought was more than enough rambling in the House of Commons…

“MP Mike surprises Eastleigh Ramblers” really? He seems to be avoiding the real issue in the consituency – his Fib Dem mates and “builder” House.

“Mike Thornton enjoys our open green spaces” – he’d better make the most of them, wont be any left (or badgers) once his collegues in the council have had done with us!
