Eastleigh marks armistice

Bugler Trevor Dacombe sounds the last post

Eastleigh folk joined thousands of other people throughout the UK to mark the 95th anniversary of the cessation of hostilites in World War One.

For the second in two days bugler Trevor Dacombe of Romsey Old Cadets band trod the steps of the bandstand to sound the last post, the signal for two minutes silence on the stroke of 11.

Despite the rain a small crowd of townsfolk and British Legion veterans stood respectfully alongside the borough’s Chief Executive for a short service conducted by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Tony Noyce before repairing to the Point for refreshments.
