Richard Hill’s Spitfires take on Tonbridge Angels today in the Skrill South as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table at the Silverlake Stadium (3pm kick off).

Eastleigh last played in the FA Trophy last weekend where they progressed to the first round away to Maidstone United.

It took them just before the break before they broke the deadlock and it was Eastleigh’s top goal scorer this season, Craig McAllister that opened the scoring.

The former Crawley Town striker turned and shot in to the back of the net in superb style after Jai Reason flicked it on with his head.

Maidstone then got one back shortly after the break as Frannie Collin hit a volley in the box which just crept past goalkeeper Ross Flitney.

Within minutes of the home side equalising, Hill’s men made sure they would take the lead again when Yemi Odubade got taken out by the opposition keeper and was awarded a penalty.

Reason smashed his penalty down the middle of the goal which was the deciding goal of the game that finished 1-2 to The Spitfires.

Eastleigh have since been drawn away to Ryman Premier side Bury Town in the next round of the FA Trophy which will be played next weekend at Ram Meadow, Bury St Edmunds.

Today’s visitors Tonbridge Angels currently sit in the relegation zone in 20th and have only recorded three wins all season with only one away victory to date in the league.

Tommy Warrilow’s men played Ryman Division One North outfit AFC Sudbury on Tuesday in a FA Trophy replay after drawing 1-1 in the fixture before.

Ryan Watts scored the only goal of the games in a 1-0 victory for The Angels.

Former Spitfires Gary Elphick, Philip Appiah and Chris Piper should all feature against Eastleigh which could possibly cause some friction on the pitch.

Today’s game is going to be a great game so come on down to The Silverlake Stadium and roar on those Spitfires!
