Wards at Royal Hants County Hospital Winchester have announced restricted visiting hours following an outbreak of flu with vomiting and diarrhoea.
Starting today and over the weekend visitors will only be allowed to visit for one hour between 6.30pm – 7.30pm only, to restrict the possible transmission of the bug and help prevent further cases.
Hampshire Hospitals said in a statement:
“We do not currently have any wards closed but do need your help, to help us to continue to protect our patients from sickness by not visiting within 48 hours of having any symptoms of, vomiting or flu-like illness. It is also advisable that young children and elderly people avoid visiting”
“The nurse in charge of each ward should be contacted if friends and families are concerned about visiting arrangements. The contact details for each ward can be found on www.hampshirehosptials.nhs.uk, on the homepage under A-Z Wards.”
Both Andover War Memorial Hospital and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital sre also affected.
An update is expected on Monday.
