Elvis Bishop beats Lib Dems

David Bishop, the ‘Elvis Loves Pets’ candidate who out-polled the English Democrats, TUSC and the Wessex Regionalists in last year’s Eastleigh by-election, has added a fresh scalp to his electoral record by beating the Lib Dem candidate in a council by-election.

The Labour party held onto Clifton North ward on Nottingham City Council with the Conservatives second, Ukip third and Bishop, standing in his home town as ‘Bus Pass Elvis’, beating the Lib Dems by 11 votes.

Bishop’s Eastleigh manifesto had promoted ‘free neutering for cats and Boris Johnson’.
