Police in Chandlers Ford are investigating a possible assault after a 25-year-old man was discovered lying in the road with injuries to his hand and foot.

He was discovered on Bournemouth Road at around 2.30am on Saturday, March 29, and told officers he had been attacked by another man.

A taxi is believed to have made oncoming traffic aware of the man in the road and a woman is also thought to have stopped to help the man at the roadside.

Officers would like to speak to these people as potential witnesses.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Staff Investigator Waller at Eastleigh police station on 101 or via this website

There are no immediate plans to close Eastleigh Police station as yet. However, Eastleigh has been downgraded as a station since the closure of its custody suite.

The land the station sits on is highly valuable and the council have been in talks with Hampshire Police for the disposal of this site for many years.

Had the site at Chandlers Ford worked out then Eastleigh would have been closed within a year but the whole Eastleigh project, I understand from an insider, is on hold for the time being.

    Hope that helps Pete.
