A Chandler’s Ford duathlete is celebrating winning at this year’s English Duathlon Championships which have been held at Newbury Hall in Yorkshire.
Sam Aplin, a 25 year-old Administration assistant, finished third overall and was crowned champion in the 25 – 29 yr age group.
The Eastleigh Running Club member also competes for Team GB in the Duathlon and only took up the event two years ago.
Since then she has competed internationally for the last two seasons bringing home Silver for Great Britain at the 2013 World Duathlon Championships in Canada.
Aplin told Eastleigh News:
“The National Duathlon Championships was a great opportunity to test myself in the lead up to the 2014 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, in June, where I will be competing for GB having this year moved up into the 25-29 Age Group Category.
“Recently, I have taken up swimming and I am looking forward to competing in the 2014 Ironman 70.3 UK Triathlon in June, which will be my first attempt at racing this distance”.
