The Green Party is the only party who is ‘standing up’ to Ukip on immigration Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett told Eastleigh News at the launch of the Green’s European manifesto entitled ‘Real Change’ in London yesterday
Bennett said the other parties had been weak in their response to Ukip’s recent ‘ dangerous and damaging’ poster campaign but the ‘anti-ukip’ vote was growing.
Green Party policies include a referendum on Europe, re-nationalization of the Railways and the scrapping the costly and complex ‘green deal’ – which Bennett described as “designed by financiers for financiers’- with free insulation for all paid through carbon taxes.
Keith Taylor, who was also present at the launch, is one of the party’s two MEPs and represents the South East area which includes Eastleigh.
The former Brighton City Councillor told Eastleigh News that the UK was a net tax beneficiary of immigration and the country needed more immigrants.
There are no Green party candidates standing in Eastleigh’s local elections this year but the party is fielding a full slate of candidates in the European elections.
