Army Cadet’s Gold Award

Cadet Sgt Alice Groves

An Army Cadet from Eastleigh has been presented with her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at St James Palace.

Cadet Sergeant Major Groves is a cadet at the 11(Eastleigh) Platoon Detachment and has been a cadet for over 5 years.

She has spent 12 months working towards her award, having completed both Bronze and Silver.

The Earl of Wessex was in attendance at the awards and spoke to the recipients. .

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, is an award given for completing a programme of activities that can be undertaken by anyone aged 14 to 24. DofE programmes take between 1 year and 4 years to complete, depending upon the route taken
