A local woman had to be taken to hospital yesterday after an assailant squirted a liquid, thought to be bleach, at her head.
It happened in an alleyway between Newtown Road and George Street between 9.20 and 9.30am on Monday May 12.
The 46-year-old local woman has told officers someone approached her from behind and assaulted her.
She was taken to the Southampton General Hospital and treated for irritation to her skin and eyes.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time.
