Oliver ‘takes over’ sweet factory

 Oliver Kitching

Oliver Kitching, aged 10 from Hedge End, has had the experience of a lifetime after winning a national competition to be named a Haribo Little Apprentice – giving him the chance to experience the exciting sights and smells of the famous sweet factory.

As a Little Apprentice, Oliver was one of just ten children to enter the Happy World of Haribo

Oliver also got to meet brand mascot Goldbear, took a tour around the factory, tasted brand new treats and came up with his own imaginative sweet suggestions, flavours and textures!

To win the prize Oliver had to explain what he would do if he ran the factory for a day and what sweet treat he would invent. To secure his place on this money can’t buy experience Oliver presented a very detailed outline of what he would do if he was the boss and his sweet treat was popping candy firework on a marshmallow stick and featuring popping candy in the centre.

Haribo’s Marketing Manager, Hayley Johnson said:

“Haribo Little Apprentice is a really popular competition so Oliver should be really pleased that his treat idea secured a visit to the our factory. We also liked the fact that Oliver was really passionate about seeing how treats are made. ”

She added:

“Everyone who visited the factory had a fantastic time, I know they enjoyed seeing how Starmix is made and also tasting some of our top secret treats. It was certainly an experience which we hope they will remember forever.”

Oliver commented:

“It was the very best day ever. The tasting of the new sweets and guessing what flavours they were was the best part. On the factory tour, I really like seeing how the sweets were moulded into shape.”
