The man had been working with a colleague at an address on Sandy Lane with his Ford Transit flatbed van parked in the road outside.
The man aged in his 50s, heard his van being started and driven away.
A woman parked opposite also witnessed the theft, and assisted the owner by giving chase after the stolen vehicle
At a garden centre near Winchester Road and Fishers Pond, they attempted to block the van to prevent it moving off but a collision occurred between the stolen van and the owner who received leg cuts and grazes
The incident happened at approximately 3pm on Thursday (September 18) and the man who stole the Transit is described as:
● Aged in his late 20s to early 30s
● Round face
● Short blond hair
● Clean shaven
