Staff at local work places, and residents in Chandler’s Ford are set to benefit from a new bus service linking the major business areas in Chandler’s Ford, to both Airport Parkway and Chandler’s Ford stations from 1st September.
The service, that is operated by Xelabus, is being set up with support from the My Journey project and Eastleigh Borough Council who have been working with businesses in the Chandler’s Ford area to improve options to support non-car commuting to work in these areas.
The bus will run between Airport Parkway station and Chandler’s Ford business parks and then on to Chandler’s Ford station and will run up to every 15 minutes at rush hour and every 30 minutes off peak, Monday to Friday.
The new route will help to improve access to Airport Parkway from parts of Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford which do not currently have a good link to this key rail station. Staff at businesses participating in the Chandler’s Ford Commuter Forum project will qualify for FREE travel. Most journeys on the route will be a flat fare of just £1 each way for members of the public.
Cabinet Lead for Transport & Streetscene Cllr David Airey said
“This is a fantastic new service that has been launched in response to requests from major employers in Chandler’s Ford. The new route should help reduce parking and traffic issues in and around Chandler’s Ford by providing a link to rail stations for onward travel, as an alternative to staff driving to work.”
“The new service represents a major investment by the Council, Xelabus, Hampshire County Council, Local Sustainable Transport Fund and My Journey.”
