Spitfires earn FA Cup First Round home tie

The draw was live on BBC Two this evening

For only the second time in history Eastleigh have reached the first round of the FA Cup and earlier this evening they were handed a home draw to either Alfreton Town or Lincoln City who are both fellow Vanarama Conference sides.

With the Spitfires playing in the top tier of non-league football it meant Richard Hill’s men only faced one opponent before reaching this round and that was away to  Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

Jai Reason decided the tie early in the first half with a thunderbolt of a strike from outside of the box that put in Eastleigh in the hat alongside League One and Two clubs.

Alfreton and Lincoln will both play tomorrow night to decide who Eastleigh play with reports that Alfreton are due to field an outfield player as their goalkeeper.
