Eastleigh suffered their first home defeat of the season on Sunday as they went down to Altrincham 2-0 with left-back Michael Green getting sent off.

New signing Brian Howard made a second half appearance and AFC Bournemouth loanee Joe Partington was handed a start in the heart of the defence.

This was an ideal opportunity for Richard Hill’s men to continue their play-off form however they now sit two points behind fifth place in eighth.

Striker Jack Midson scored an own goal in the first half for the visitors and Shaun Densmore scored a late free kick to seal the three points moments after Green received a second yellow for a foul on Damian Reeves.

Hill’s men would now look to bounce back against a team who they have already beaten at home this season as they welcome Lincoln City to the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick off).

Gary Simpson’s Imps currently sit in mid-table two points below Eastleigh in 11th but are in good form having recently beat the league leaders 4-1 at home.

Goals from Ben Tomlinson, Alan Power, Jon Nolan and Connor Robinson made sure that Lincolnshire side got the victory they wanted.

The Spitfires met Lincoln back in November  in the FA Cup where Ben Strevens got the all important late goal that sent Eastleigh into the next round.
