Eastleigh have captured the signing of veteran striker Deon Burton ahead of Saturday’s home league game against AFC Telford (3pm kick off).
Aged 38, Burton started his career at Portsmouth before moving to Derby County where he enjoyed over 125 league appearances for the club scoring 25 goals in the Premier League.
The Jamaican international has since played for a number of clubs including Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday and most recently Scunthorpe United where he got released last month.
Burton will join on loan attacking midfielder Dan Walker who joined from Braintree until the end of the season in making a début this Saturday.
Richard Hill’s men will be without Yemi Odubade however who has joined Woking until the end of the season on loan.
Saturday’s opponents, newly promoted side AFC Telford United, have been in trouble in the Vanarama Conference lately with nine points away from safety – sitting rock bottom.
Like Eastleigh’s game at away to Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday, Telford’s game got postponed away to Grimsby meaning both teams have had a lengthy break before this fixture and the Spitfires have dropped ninth in the league.
Despite loosing their last two league games, Steve Kittrick’s men managed to pull of a 4-0 away victory against Wrexham last month which proves The Bucks will be no pushovers.
The last time the two teams met was in December last year as Eastleigh came out 4-3 winners on the day as James Constable netted a brace to help secure the three points.
