Eastleigh moved up to sixth in the Vanarama Conference after their 2-1 away victory to Southport in a game that saw three goals in the space of the last 15 minutes.
After a goalless first half it took another 30 minutes before the home side took the lead as John Marsden scored for Southport.
The Spitfires however never gave up and on loan defender Joe Partington got on the end of a Jai Reason free kick with less than ten minutes to go to send the two teams level.
Reason then turned scorer as his deflected effort on goal found the net with moments left on the clock that secured Eastleigh them all important three points.
That win puts Richard Hill’s men just three points of the play off’s as they take on Torquay United at home on Saturday at the Silverlake Stadium (3pm kick off).
The newly relegated side are having a disappointing season sitting nine places below Eastleigh in 13th.
Chris Hargreaves men however did beat the Spitfires 2-0 back in November last year as Toby Ajala and Ryan Bowman both netted that day.
