Richard Hill’s Spitfires have announced their first four friendlies for the 2015/2016 pre-season as Eastleigh strengthen their midfield in a busy week at the Silverlake Stadium.
Woking midfielder Josh Payne signed for Hill’s men last week on a one year deal after Eastleigh announced a heavy released list.
The former West Ham youth product has played for a number of teams on loan including Cheltenham Town and Wycombe Wanderers before signing for Doncaster Rovers on a permanent deal.
Payne, aged 24 who grew up in Basingstoke, failed to make an appearance for Rovers and went on to sign for Oxford Untied with at the time Eastleigh’s owner Steward Donald having the shirt sponsor with his insurance company Bridle Insurance.
Before eventually signing for Woking in 2013, Payne played for fellow Hampshire side Aldershot Town.
Payne will play against his former club Oxford Untied in a pre-season friendly on 25th July (7.45pm) at the Silverlake Stadium.
The Spitfires first pre-season fixture will see Hill’s men travel to Clanfield on Thursday 9th July (7.30pm) before playing rivals Havant & Waterlooville nine days later at West Leigh Park (3pm kick off).
Eastleigh’s first home pre-season fixture announced is against League Two Newport County on Tuesday 21st July (7.45pm).
In other news former Eastleigh defender Chris Todd has taken the role of assistant manager after Craig McAllister was released at the end of the season.
Todd who had the role as player/first team coach last season joined the club in January 2013 as a much experienced defender from Forest Green Rovers.
