Police would like to speak to these two shoppers

Police are looking for a person who used a stolen bank card in Eastleigh’s Swan Centre shortly after an elderly woman had her handbag snatched from outside her home in Southampton.

Police have issued a CCTV image taken in JD Sports of two men they would like to speak to as they may hold vital information,

The 78 year-old victim was approached by a tall youth outside her home in Franklyn Avenue, Sholing, who asked for a lighter on October 30.

When she put her handbag on the floor to look for a lighter, another youth ran into the garden and grabbed the bag and both ran off in the direction of Pembroke Road.

Inside the black leather handbag was the victim’s bank card which was subsequently used in several shops on the same day.

The shops where the card was used were JD Sports, in Eastleigh and John Anthony, JD Sports, Superdrug and River Island in Southampton.

The value of the items purchased with the card came to around £4,000.
