Southern Water say they will have restored water to all premises in the Fair Oak area by this afternoon as they work to repair 16 inch water main which burst this morning forcing the closure of Winchester Rd between Crowdhill and Fisher’s Pond.

In a statement published on their website Southern Water say water has already been restored to schools and colleges in the area and thanked customers for “their patience”.

Exactly two weeks ago 4,000 houses in Eastleigh were left without water after a main burst at Chestnut Avenue and the Itchen Navigation footpath and adjoining fields were flooded with treated waste water after a tank burst at Chickenhall Lane pumping station however Southern Water say these incidents are not in any way related.

Southern Water say they will be issuing updates on facebook and twitter.
