Witness appeal following fatal collision in Fair Oak

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on Allington Lane, close to the junction with Hogwood Lane, in Fair Oak on Thursday.

The emergency services  were called at 12.35pm following reports that a silver Skoda had left the road and had landed on the railway tracks.

The incident resulted in the closure of Allington Lane for most of Thursday and alos caused SW Trains to be diverted.

Sadly the driver, reportedly a male,  has died.

Next of kin has been informed. Police say they will not be releasing the name of the deceased until formal identification procedures are completed.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 440 from 9/6/16.

      Yes it certainly is sad news and not the first fatality on the lane either. A dangerous stretch of road even for drivers familiar with it due to multiple hazards.
