Another woman assaulted in Eastleigh town centre

Police are again appealing for witnesses following an assualt in Eastleigh Town Centre on Saturday night, just yards away from the scene of another assault 10 days ago.

In both cases the victim was female.

The  latest incident happened at some time between 3am and 4am on Saturday (July 8) on Leigh Road recreation ground.

The victim, aged in her early 20s, left the The Station pub on  High Street (formally the Litten Tree) at around 3am.

She then went to the park on Leigh Road where she was assaulted.

Detective Sergeant Paul Selby, said:

“I am appealing for anyone with information that could help us, to come forward. Were you on your way home after a night out around the time of the attack? Did you see or hear anything that could be connected? I would urge anyone with information to come and speak to us and tell us what they know.”

Police haven’t released any other details of the incident but on June 3o a young woman suffered a late night assault in Leigh Rd precinct and was robbed of £100 and was the subject of a separate police appeal here.
