A woman was assaulted after giving chase to a man who snatched her purse.
At some time between 9.30pm and 10pm on Thursday, June 30 the 20-year-old victim was walking between Leigh Road and Market Street when she was barged into from behind knocking her hand bag from her arm.
A man then snatched up her purse and ran off towards Market Street. The woman chased him and caught him outside Boots where she grabbed him. He then stamped on her foot and ran off down Market Street towards Tesco, having dropped the purse after taking £100 taken from it.
The man police want to speak to is described as: aged 20 to 30, 6ft, of skinny, build wearing a grey plain long sleeve t-shirt which had the sleeves rolled up. He had dark hair with a long fringe which covered his forehead and right eye. He is described as having a large pointy nose.
PC Emma Malley, said:
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or saw a man matching the description running away from the area, to come and speak to us. As always, I would urge people to keep their bags closed and wear the straps over their body, if possible.”
