Eastleigh have release left back Michael Green with the defender playing over 250 times for The Spitfires.

Green  has been a firm favourite amongst the passionate Spitfires fan base in his time at the club, and will embark on a challenge with a new club in the near future.

First team manager Martin Allen has issued the following statement ahead of Michael’s departure on the official website.

‘In the last few days, we’ve had a few chats with Michael, and we feel it’s the right thing to do for him after the service he’s given Eastleigh Football Club.

‘He’s been a major player in the club’s rise to the National League, and by talking to him and letting him know early that it was going to be unlikely that he was going to get a contract for next season, Michael can now find himself a new club.

‘The chairman has now taken it over and he has looked after Michael very well. I must say he is a really nice person, he’s been a great player for this football club, and it’s disappointing – it’s a testing conversation to have and I wish Michael the very best when he finds his new club.

‘In the meantime, I have invited Michael to stay and to carry on training whilst he looks to find a new club.

‘I wish Michael Green the very best of luck for the future.’
