Police have arrested a man in connection with their enquiry into the murder of 37 year-old Carl Scott in Stanmore on Wednesday.

A 58-year-old from Winchester was arrested yesterday evening and is currently being held in police custody for questioning.

Officers had called to a house in Birch Court, off Thurmond Crescent on Wednesday afternoon following the discovery of Mr Scott’s body.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Morgan, who is leading the investigation has renewed his appeal for information:

“We are still in the early stages of this investigation and we are following various lines of enquiry to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.

“In particular, we are trying to build up a picture of Mr Scott’s lifestyle and movements.

“Therefore I am continuing to appeal for anyone who knew Mr Scott and had contact with him since February 1 this year to contact us. You may hold information that could be vital to our investigation.

“A cordon at the address will remain in place for the next few days while we carry out further enquiries.

“Once again, I would like to thank local residents for their patience while this takes place.”
