A Chandler’s Ford man is planning to cycle from London to Amsterdam this May in aid of cancer charity Marie Curie.
Ed Pearce will be joining a party of 25 fundraisers who will be cycling the 134 miles in two days.
The 45 year-old sales managers has always loved cycling but after his father-in-law died of cancer just weeks after diagnosis he decided he would join a Macmillan cycling event to thank the nurses for their support and went on to raise £3,400 by cycling from London to Paris.
Since then he has lost more family and friends and so has decided to get pedaling for charity again.
Ed Pearce said:
“I aim to raise as much money as I can for this wonderful charity. Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Last year they cared for over 40000 people across the UK and this takes a lot of money.”
Pearce has the support of several local businesses, Estate agents Sparks Ellison, Ventura Kitchens and and 5past7 (Tailoring and alterations) have already bought advertising space on his cycling jersey.
