Live Review: Shalamar at The Concorde

Shalamar are one of the most successful Soul groups of all time selling 25 million albums worldwide so it’s no wonder they totally killed their set at Eastleigh’s Concorde last week. They’ve had many world-wide hits such as Night to Remember and I Can Make You Feel Good which they performed on the night – much to the delight of the packed out venue. It was the band’s ‘Friends 35th anniversary tour’ and the trio from LA that includes Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewett and Carolyn Griffey were superb throughout the night and their support act artist Tara Flannagan who certainly provided a fantastic buzz around the venue before Shalamar graced the stage. She played her debut music video Run Run Run among other beautifully written songs.  Tara also made a tribute to the late Prince with a cover of Purple Rain.

This was a great occasion to be a part of and did attract a friendly and upbeat audience who were certainly not let down with the quality of the show and the performance from Shalamar. There was plenty of soul to the night which you would expect with this trio however Shalamar has that something little bit more special and with the night being a fairly intimate occasion, it was certainly a night not to forget.
