Community sports club wins ‘Clubmark’ award

Eastleigh Multi Sports Club were awarded ‘Clubmark’ status on Friday 9 March, which was presented by Mims Davies MP.

Clubmark is the universally recognised club accreditation scheme which requires clubs to demonstrate high levels of welfare, equity, coaching and management within a community sports club. Mims Davies MP presented the club with their certificate during the clubs Friday night football session at Crestwood Community School.

Energise Me worked with club treasurer Susan Perrin and Chair Suzy Foster throughout the process and Clubmark lead, Harry Stow said:

“Eastleigh Multi Sports Club were an absolute pleasure to work with. The club provides people with physical disabilities and learning difficulties the opportunity to be regularly active in a wide range of activities. The club continues to sustain excellent numbers and is always looking for new participants through exploring various networks.”

The MP said she was “thrilled” to visit a local club providing such a broad mix of activities:

“My love of sport is well documented, and it is vital that all of those wishing to take part in sport and lead an active, healthy lifestyle are provided with the opportunity to do so.

I was therefore delighted to present Eastleigh Multi Sports Club with Clubmark status in recognition of the inspirational work that the Club carries out, providing young people from across our area who might otherwise find it difficult to take part in sports to get involved, make new friends and realise their true potential.

For these reasons and so many others, I was delighted to award Suzy and her amazing team with Clubmark status.”

Club chair Suzy Foster accepted the award on behalf of the club and said:

“This is important recognition for our amazing club. We could not run without the support of our great team of volunteers, who give their time to enable our members to take part in sports and social activities in a safe and friendly environment.  Getting Clubmark status reflects the hard work we have put in to ensure our club provides an excellent standard of specialist coaching, and activities that make a real difference to our member’s lives.”
