Solent University announce art gallery with a difference

Second year Southampton Solent University students are creating an art gallery with a difference in front of Southampton’s Guildhall. Students will be showcasing their work which will be displayed inside, outside and on three metal shipping containers. The SIXTEEN exhibition will run from the 14th -18thApril from 12-6pm.

Being in the heart of the city in the exciting cultural quarter just outside the new John Hansard Gallery, Showcase Gallery and just around the corner from Southampton Art Gallery, art lovers will enjoy seeing new and up and coming artists work. The students who will be there throughout the exhibition also hope to engage with passersby who may not have been exposed to art work before and relish the opportunity to engage with city workers and visitors to the town and discuss their work.

The artisits exhibiting are Allison Farley, Annabel Avison, Annabelle Thomas, AshleighTurner, Caitlin Dawber, Effy Jones, Ellie Trowbridge, Gilberto Oliveria, Gwen Datyner, HannahTrewren, Jasmine Wyeth, Laura Challis, Lucy Marshall, Maria Jenssen and Melanie Ffitch-Mitchell. These artists will be exhibiting a variety of works including painting, sculpture, photography and video. The combination of different mediums including sugar, glass, vinyl and traditional paint will create an eclectic and visual treat for all visitors.
