The largest ever entries of over 2900 runners are set to take part in the re-arranged 34th Hendy Eastleigh 10K road race following the snow in March on Sunday 17 June at 9am.
Sponsored by Hendy, runners will pour into the borough from throughout the UK and abroad and compete for over £3000 worth of prizes in the event that will be held around the streets of Eastleigh.
This year’s race is supporting the Mayor of Eastleigh’s Charity Appeal, and Wesex Heartbeat.
There may be some disruption to traffic, with Passfield Avenue being closed between 8.30am and 10.30am. There will also be a road closure as the runners’ lead car go along the new route which is Passfield Avenue, Woodside Avenue, Shakespeare Road, Twyford Road, Woodside Avenue, back along
Passfield Avenue, Derby Road, Desborough Road, Chestnut Avenue and Passfield Avenue, before finishing in Fleming Park.
Race Organiser, Steve Collins says,
‘Unlike many races that were simply cancelled following the snow in March its fantastic that wea have re-arranged the Hendy Eastleigh 10k as it provides such a great day for the town. The event has been more popular than ever with hundreds on a waiting list wanting to take part in the event.’
