Self service only after Valley Park ram-raid

The scene this afternoon

Armed cops and a police chopper were scrambled to sleepy Valley Park in the early hours of Thursday morning (June 21) following a burglary at the Tesco Express in Pilgrims Close when three suspects made off with the shop’s tills.

It’s alleged that three men had ram-raided the shuttered store and were pursued in a high speed car-chase. They were captured after they abandoned their vehicle and tried to run off.

Today, Tesco shop staff were unable to use the manual tills without the drawers but the self-service tills were still operating and the store was open for business

Hampshire Constabulary have stated that three men from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

In 2007 two armed robbers were shot dead by police at Chandler’s Ford shopping precinct and in 2012 Waitrose was ram-raided by Motor-Cyclists.
