Following the new signings of Joe Jones and Alex Wynter, The Spitfires beat Reading in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 2-1 at the Silverlake Stadium in front of 738 spectators.
Ben Williamson’s late goal fired Eastleigh to the best possible start to pre-season with victory over the Championship side as Paul McCallum’s smart finish in the first half was cancelled out by Reading attacker Leandro Bacuna only 15 minutes away from full-time.
Eastleigh fielded five new players in Josh Hare, Wynter, Cameron Murray, Richard Gilot and Oscar Gobern.
Half time meant nine changes for the Spitfires, including new faces Bayley Brown, Azeez Canteh and Joey Jones.
Hessenthaler used a total of 22 players in this victory over Reading and it’s likely they will all feature away to AFC Totton on the 14th July.
