The Council’s popular Park Sport programme returned with the annual Skate Jam event at Freespace Skate Park run by Team Extreme.
Around 100 local youngsters and families attended and took part in a number of scooter, BMX and Skateboard competitions, with some fantastic prizes awarded to the winners. There were also some brilliant demonstrations from the Team Extreme professionals.
Now in its twelfth year, Park Sport offers a sessions across 13 sports and activities. Around 2700 sessions have been booked on the activities that are set to start on Monday 30 July.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s smoothie bike was back in action providing some healthy refreshment, whilst the No Limits charity was also in attendance promoting services available to young people.
Cabinet Lead for Health Cllr Tonia Craig said:
‘The event was again hugely successful and it was great to see so many young people of all ages giving the sports a go and having a great time. I encourage parents to sign their children up to some of the activities on offer this summer.’
The next Skate Jam takes place at Woodhouse Lane Skate Park on Monday 20th August (12–4pm). There are also spaces still available on Advanced/Intermediate Skateboard Coaching sessions at Bursledon Skate Park and Knowle Park Skate Park.
