Internationally acclaimed aerial dance company Gravity & Levity (G&L) presents the 9th annual European Aerial Dance Festival (EADF) from now to 18th August 2018 at The Point, Eastleigh.
The EADF is curated by Gravity & Levity’s Artistic Director Lindsey Butcher and offers inclusive intensive courses and workshops, taught by world class professional tutors. The two-week event includes courses in trapeze, fabric and vertical dance, plus a pop-up physio clinic and other specialist workshops for all levels and abilities.
The Point is delighted to be hosting EADF for the third year in row. The 2017 event saw students arriving from around Europe and as far as Canada and Australia to Eastleigh, placing the borough on the cultural map. The celebrated event is also recognised for boosting the local economy, with participants at the festival encouraged to visit independently-owned eateries in the town centre and stay in nearby accommodation.
‘We are extremely excited to be working so closely with Gravity and Levity over the next four years, the EADF is fast becoming a celebrated festival here in Eastleigh and we are very proud to be developing this relatively new art form in the heart of the borough, with exciting international links.’
– Vicki Hargreaves, Creative Programme Producer (Dance) at The Point
The festival has partnered with Eastleigh Borough Council’s This Girl Can scheme – a celebration of active women doing their thing no matter how well they do it -, offering local residents the opportunity to take part in taster sessions of Vinyasa Yoga and Hula Hoop Technique and Play.
