Barton Peveril hosts Anti-Bullying Youth Conference

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College hosted a youth conference for local school pupils today, 14th November, as part of Anti-Bullying Week 2018. Pupils from Wildern School, Thornden School, Toynbee School and Lakeside School came to the College for the conference, which was introduced by Mayor for Eastleigh Bruce Tennent.

The pupils attended workshops throughout the day, designed to prevent bullying by raising awareness of its impact on physical and mental health. The workshops were run by Hampshire Police and local youth organisations Groundwork and Solent Youth Action.

Speaking before the event, Thornden School pupil Keylee said:

I’m looking forward to this conference, as bullying has a big impact in every day society. This conference is great because it creates awareness to help us prevent bullying.’

Barton Peveril College Counsellor Helen Cunliffe also praised the conference:

‘We really enjoyed hosting the conference, as it is a great opportunity to meet and support pupils from the local area. By addressing Anti-Bullying week with pupils we can work towards preventing bullying in the community.’
