Barton Peveril Sixth Form College’s Swimming Team had a successful competition at the English Schools’ Swimming Association National Final last Saturday, 17th November 2018. The competition was held in London’s Olympic pool and saw the five Barton Peveril pupils finish 3rd nationally in the Freestyle Relay and 5th nationally in the Medley Relay.
The team qualified for the National Final at the regional competition in Hampshire, five weeks ago. On Saturday, the Barton Peveril swimmers were competing against the top swimming scholarship schools in the country and earned their place on the podium after a promising display in the heats and a successful final race.
The team consisted of former Wildern School pupils Max Nugent and William Whitlock, former Bitterne Park School pupil Keiran Beckett, Tyler Ellis who formerly attended Redbridge Community School, and The Romsey School former pupil Filip Fraczek-Krygier.
Speaking on their success, team member Kieran Beckett said:
‘I’m so happy with getting a podium finish in the relay. To beat specialist swimming schools just as a group of close mates was a great feeling and one I will never forget.’
Barton Peveril Director of Sport Luke Hampton praised the team on their effort:
‘This is a brilliant achievement and we are really proud of the team. It’s always great to see our students do so well, when representing the College in competitions nationally.’
