Eastleigh’s own maverick politician, Ray Hall, is hoping to build on the success of his Beer, Baccy and Crumpet Party which finished sixth out of the fourteen candidates in the 2013 Eastleigh by-election with the launch of a new political party.
The Spitfire Party plans to contest seats locally and more widely across the UK. Now working closely with Ray Turner – formerly a local candidate in Hedge End – Mr Hall has declared The Spitfire Party are ready for “take off” in the next “Battle of Britain” if the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal is heavily rejected by the House of Commons on December 11.
The two Rays say they both respect the result of the 2016 referendum on leaving the EU and want to see that implemented.
In a press release Ray Hall said:
The Prime Ministers deal is a good compromise, but it is essential that we are fully out of the EU at the end of the transition period, at the end of 2020, and that it is not extended.
Ray Turner added:
The Prime Ministers deal has some merit in the sense that it could be argued that it respects the result of both referendums, in 1975 and 2016, but it is also a political fudge that could see us shackled to the EU indefinitely. As such it should be rejected.
