Assault update: Police carry out house to house enquiries

Crime scene remains taped off

Police are carrying out house to house enquiries on Eastleigh’s Pirelli estate today following the arrest of two teenagers on suspicion of attempted murder. As a result of the  bloody doorstep assault on Friday night, a 23-year-old Winchester man is still in hospital with life-threatening injuries and two 17-year-olds and a 48-year-old man from Bursledon are understood to be still in custody.

This morning, several police vehicles were still at the crime scene at Heinz Burt Close as police forensic officers continued to examine the terrace house where blood from the incident could still be seen on the doorstep.

Evidence of blood still on doorstep,

Police had been called to the quiet cul-de-sac at around 10.15 last night (December 21) and found a victim with a serious head injury who was then taken to Southampton General Hospital.

A 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, both from Eastleigh, have both been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while a 48-year-old Bursledon man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Neighbours said they heard “screams” and saw “blood everywhere” in what has been reported as a “doorstep attack”.

Police say that the victim’s next of kin have been informed.
