Paul McCallum’s late goal earned Eastleigh a point at home to former Spitfires manager Andy Hessenthaler’s Dover Atheltic despite opening the scoring early on at The Silverlake Stadium in front of 1,430 spectators.
The Spitfires’ Ben Williamson opened the scoring in the second minute, following up after Mark Yeates’ free-kick which was saved by Mitch Walker.
Inih Effiong cancelled that goal out with a strike from inside the Eastleigh penalty box.
Jai Reason, who was arguably one of Eastleigh’s best players from 2014 to 2017, gave Dover the lead after a lapse of concentration in the Eastleigh defence at a free-kick.
But, with four minutes remaining, McCallum scored to earn his side a point with a pin point header.
The Spitfires take on Wrexham away this Saturday as they look to continue their fine away from.
