Police have called on Eastleigh residents to help them find a weapon which may have been used in a serious assault on Friday night that has left a 23-year old Winchester man in hospital with a serious head injury.
Officers have spent the day conducting house to house enquiries and searching for the weapon that they believe was used in a bloody doorstep attack at an address in Heinz Burt Close on Friday night (21 December).
The police have asked that anyone living in the area between Heinz Burt Close on the Pirelli estate and Scott Road in the adjoining poet roads to check their bins, front and rear gardens for a weapon that may have been discarded. The likely weapon is described as being similar in appearance to a Samurai sword.
The victim, remains at Southampton General Hospital in a life-threatening condition while a 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder still remains in police custody.
A 17-year-old girl from Eastleigh who was originally arrested along with the boy on suspicion of attempted murder is no longer facing investigation for this offence but has been arrested instead on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released under investigation.
A 48-year-old man from Bursledon who was also arrested yesterday has had no further action against him in connection with GBH. He has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug of Class B and has been released under investigation.
