Eloeyse Cripps might not be old enough to drive a car but the Hampshire teenager has just fulfilled a dream by learning to fly a light aircraft single handed.

Eloeyse – who is just 16 years-old – has flown solo for the first time at Popham airfield after winning a scholarship with flying school AirBourne Aviation becoming the youngest person to take their first solo flight with the school.

The Basingstoke teenager’s interest in aviation took off after she was gifted a ticket for a pleasure fight. She then became one of two lucky young people to win a scholarship offered by Airborne Aviation.

After completing her first solo circuits of the airfield while her instructor watched from the ground, Eloeyse exclaimed “I’m so happy.”

Matthew Myatt, Co-Director of AirBourne Aviation said

She is the youngest person to ever be sent solo from Popham, and she plans on becoming an instructor to teach other young people how to fly.
