Search is on for Eastleigh FC’s next female star

Eastleigh FC is committed to promoting the female game and has successful teams at every age. An FA Charter Standard Club it’s Ladies team currently play in the FA Southern Region Women’s Football League while their girls play in the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League (HGYFL). The girls and ladies are an integral part of the club as a whole, taking part in parades and presentations at the Men’s First Team matches whilst the Ladies occasionally are lucky enough to play at The Silverlake Stadium itself.

Having had very successful under 14, 15 and 16 squads for the last few seasons next season will see the clubs first under 18 squad. With the pressures of school and college work at this age rather than subject potential players with single day ‘trials’ the squad will be selected through a series of open training sessions on Tuesday night 7-9pm from June onwards at The Silverlake’s artificial training pitch. Being a three year age bracket all those girls aged 15, 16 or 17 on 31 August 2019 will be eligible to play. It promises to be a great season as the HGYFL grows bigger and stronger year by year and currently has over 2000 players! But there are County trophies up for grabs as well.

Eastleigh Under 18s are expected to be up there in the ‘Big 4’ locally as well as expanding their horizon and potentially playing friendlies with the likes of Oxford, Swindon, Poole, Cheltenham, Lewis and Brighton. In addition those aged 16 and above may have the opportunity to play for Eastleigh’s Ladies team which will be a great opportunity for individual players to begin the transition from the junior to the senior game.
