A chance to hear memories of old Eastleigh

The meeting is to be held at the Railway Institute, The institute’s original building (pictured) was demolished to make for a supermarket (now Sainsbury’s)

Eastleigh folk will have a chance to hear for themselves how life was like in the town during the early years of the last century. Eastleigh and District Local History Society will be holding a workshop tonight to explore the use of collecting oral history, with an example of an Eastleigh resident recalling their memories of living in the area at the turn of the last century in an audio recording made in 1986. There will also be photographs from the era and an opportunity to hear how people can use this method for their own research.

The event is at 7.30 tonight at the Railway Institute, 2 Romsey Road and is free to members or £2 at the door to non-members.
