Armed police carry out ‘raid’ in Central Eastleigh

A Police van acted as a road block in Derby Rd

Armed police were deployed on the streets of Eastleigh yesterday (Saturday May 26) as officers carried out a ‘raid’ on Derby Road address.

At around 3.45 pm police, using their vehicles as road blocks, temporarily sealed off Derby Road to traffic between its junction with Southampton Road and High Street while officers supported by colleagues with firearms called at an address in Derby Road in what one eye-witness described to Eastleigh News as a ‘raid’.

Police quickly left the scene at 4pm and then sped to another location in Eastleigh.

Hampshire Constabulary are reported to have described the operation as an ‘isolated incident’.

No firearms were discharged in the operation which was over in minutes.
