A charity event at Haskins in West End has helped to raise £1,000 for local charity Wessex Heartbeat.
The Rotary Club of Southampton Magna put on a special event at the garden centre in April in aid of the heart charity and Myositis UK.
Guests enjoyed a meal and discounts on products, as well as a raffle, auction and the chance to browse stalls selling gifts. The fun-filled event meant £2,000 was raised and split between the two charities.
Last week Wessex Heartbeat met with the rotary club at Haskins to collect a cheque for its share of the funds raised.
Tina Hawke from Wessex Heartbeat said:
‘We are most grateful to The Rotary Club Southampton Magna, Haskins Garden Centre and all those who chose to come along for the evening. This money will help us to continue to support those living with cardiac conditions. We really appreciate the work of Rotary who tirelessly raise money for charitable causes, and we are very happy to be on the receiving end of this generous donation.’
James Lapage, president of The Rotary Club of Southampton Magna, said:
‘Huge thanks to Haskins and the wonderful staff who worked so hard, the food especially exceeded all expectations.’
Terry Pugh, lead project member, added:
It was a real pleasure to be able to work with a local company, for the benefit of local charities.’
