Eastleigh cubs had a unique opportunity to be one of only two groups in the UK to go behind the scenes at Southampton Airport.
The young people aged between 8 and 11 from the 12 Eastleigh Friday Cub Pack, who are located under the flight path, visited during Airport Safety Week and worked towards thier air activities badge.
As part of this once in a lifetime experience, they met and interviewed air crew from Flybe and Aurigny Airlines before going through security into the departure lounge where we watched a safety video before going air-side.
Once on the tarmac, they were shown the maintenance vehicles and the airport fire engines. The cubs also got taught how to use the signalling equipment and show Bishy the bear around.
The group finished the visit by investing a new cub into the pack before going back through arrivals.
A spokesman for Eastleigh Scouts said the cubs wanted to thank Southampton Airport for an “amazing experience.”
