Yesterday (May 4) Calshot Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) launched ‘Max Walls’ their Atlantic 85 lifeboat, following reports of a person in the water off Calshot.

The person had fallen off a yacht – though had luckily been wearing their life jacket – and was pulled out by passengers still aboard the yacht who then radioed the coastguard as the casualty reported feeling ‘extremely cold.’

On arrival the casualty was transferred onto the lifeboat – The crew made sure the casualty was warm and kept talking to them enroute to Hamble Harbour in order to monitor their condition and keep them alert.

Following recovery from the RNLI, the person was taken into the care of the South Central Ambulance.
