Voting in local elections today. Change of polling station for some Fair Oak Voters.
The polling stations are open from 7 am this morning for voting in the Local council elections in 13 of Eastleigh Borough Council’s 14 wards.
Last year every seat in the borough was contested in an ‘all-out’ election that resulted in the Lib Dems retaining control with 32 seats while the conservatives won 4 and the Bishopstoke Independents 3.
A third of the seats are being re-contested today after only 12 months. Ten seats are being defended by the Liberal Democrats, while the Conservatives are defending two seats and the Bishopstoke Independents one.
Some wards will also be voting for new Parish Councillors although several Parish Councils have already been declared ‘no contest’ in favour of the Lib Dems due to a lack of candidates coming forward from other parties.
Voters in Fair Oak who normally use Wyvern College will now cast their votes at Fair Oak Council Parish Offices in Knowle Park Lane.
The Polls will close at 10 o’clock tonight and Eastleigh News will be tweeting the results live from the count and declaration at Places Leisure Centre
